Paramilitary units raised by their regular officers at the end of the First World War
The then Captain Kurt von Schliecher (a later General and Chancellor of Germany) organised these corps who fought against the "enemies" of Germany, the Social Democrats and the Jews. Many of the Freikorps members were recruited later to the SA. The Freikorps were dissolved in 1921.
